Since its launch in 1985, Swedish Yuletide has become the premier Scandinavian event in New England, attracting thousands of visitors from over 150 towns across the region. Many shoppers are Swedish, or of Scandinavian descent, and appreciate the genuine atmosphere that we offer. In particular, unique, high quality merchandise with a distinct Scandinavian flair has always been one of the main attractions of the fair.
This year’s festivities will again feature a traditional Swedish Lucia procession as well as a special exhibit. We will have music and activities for children, all in an inspiring holiday atmosphere! And, of course, we hope to have an abundance of wonderfully decorated exhibits with arts, crafts, sweaters, textiles – both contemporary and traditional. As always, our own SWEA table will carry foods, books, tapes/CDs and calendars.
Swedish Yuletide is SWEA’s only fund raising event and the proceeds go toward scholarships and charities and to sponsor Swedish events. In particular, we are able to award a female American student a scholarship for study in Sweden. We also support the Swedish School, the Scandinavian Library, and the Scandinavian Living Center.
